ABOUT BLISSTOPIA

Gareth Strachan (BA, MA) is a British-Canadian award-winning writer, creator and producer of scripted film, TV and digital content, largely focusing on animation, comedy and drama. His plays have been performed in Brighton, London and Toronto. In 2020, Gareth set up Blisstopia Productions and secured funding from Santander Entrepreneurial Grants, City Ventures and Arts Council England to develop his projects. In 2022, he won an industry-judged DIT-British Embassy Pitch Fund for 'Best TV Idea; his sci-fi animation, miBOTS, which was subsequently a finalist in MipJunior's Project Pitch (Cannes), later selected to be part of Screenskills Animation Budgeting Clinic. In 2023, he was named ‘Producer to Watch’ at MipTV in Cannes. In 2024, Blisstopia Productions was selected for Creative South East's Investment Cohort, developing his pitch for UK-made, edgy YA/Adult Animation. His work largely draw on his teaching and youth work background, as well as living with neurodiversity. He lives in Brighton by the sea with his rescue dog Pimms.
